Renee received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Victoria, and her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of British Columbia. She is a Registered Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, with a Clinical Designation. Renee has worked with the Interior Health Authority, specializing in individual and group outpatient assessment, diagnoses, counselling and support services to clients dealing with complicated loss and grief, depression and anxiety spectrum including PTSD and its sequelae, complex personality disorders, adjustment disorders with complicated psychosocial stressors and complex stages of life and transition issues. She has over 30 years of mental health training/experience and community service.

On a broader note, she has conducted research and analysis projects for the City of Kelowna, Community Futures Development Corporation, the Downtown Kelowna Association, the Economic Development Commission, Okanagan College, the Okanagan Hi-Tech Council, the University of British Columbia and various non-profit groups to study marketing, economic impact, business recruitment and socio- economic issues. The recommendations from these projects have led directly to community partnerships for innovative community capacity building, job creation and industry contract development. Renee has chaired the UBCO Program Advisory Board for the Faculty of Health and Social Development and is currently an Adjunct Professor with UBCO’s School of Social Work.
